IWC repair timescales?
Discussion
Does anyone know how long it takes IWC to fix a broken watch?
I bought a Big Ingenieur chronograph about a year ago. From the outset, it seemed to me that when you tried to screw down the winder, it was very reluctant to engage onto the thread on the body of the watch. Also, once engaged, the winder would only make a tiny fraction of a turn before it became too tight to screw down any more. This got worse over time until it had become almost impossible to screw the winder down onto the watch body at all.
I took the watch back to the reseller on 26 July, who returned it to the manufacturer for repair. I have spent some time this morning trying to find out when I might get my watch back.
I find the idea that IWC does not have a customer-facing service organisation that I can ring up and find out about my watch like, say, Cartier or Rolex does, rather frustrating.
When I took the watch in for repair, I almost convinced myself that I needed another IWC watch but, right at the moment, I'm jolly glad that I decided to have a new car instead.

If the watch had the original IWC warranty, it would have gone to service via the Richemont UK office.I bought a Big Ingenieur chronograph about a year ago. Warranty repairs are usually prioritised, so 8 weeks is excessive. Though to be fair, the workshop will be short of watchmakers due to the Summer holidays....
Hope this helps.

Thank you for this: it's most helpful. The watch was new from an authorised dealer, it has an IWC warranty card. The dealer is chasing up the repair for me, so I'll give them a couple more days before I try contacting Richemont direct.
IWC seems to be corporately slothful: when I bought it, I wanted the watch with a bracelet that had to be ordered in from Switzerland, and that seemed to take for ever and a day as well.
I don't think I shall be getting another one.
