I have a IWC (Porsche design) Ocean 500, which I love.
I have been wearing it regularly and noticed that the lettering "Ocean" on the titanium strap are starting to loose their black 'in-fill'.
IWC have asked the watch to be sent back for assessment and a quote of repair. I guess that this will take time and will cost $$$.
Is this the best way of getting it fixed or can the lettering be re coloured easily?

What would you suggest?

Thanks for the reply, What type of paint would i need and where can i get this from?
I want a repair to last a long time, hence trying to do it properly.

Not an expert on these things it just seems like a very easy job to me so a shame to send off if its going to cost a lot of money but maybe Im just tight smile.

B&Q type places sell Black enamel paint quite cheap. Maybe even a Halfords chip repair car paint in black(they come with really really fine brushes)

I suppose it all depends on how handy you are at delicate jobs and how much you like the watch. Perhaps its worth sending off to you.

Personally paint can be removed so I would give it a blast myself.

Get a small brush & small pot of Humbrol (or similar) enamel paint from a model shop.

Try & let the paint just "bleed" into the letters. Don't worry to much about overspill, just wipe the excess off with a piece of paper once the paint has had a few hours to dry, but not fully "set".

I got a Doxa recently that had most of the bezel paint missing & have touched this up myself.

Black Goth nail varnish, slap it on, and then tidy it up with nail varnish remover.

This is what folk do when they modify g shocks.

In the classic camera world a similar problem occurs with the engraved name on early 1950's Kiev rangefinders, and a solution is to rub over the name with a black wax crayon , to fill in the engraving with black wax. I've done this, and it works well. Depending on how warm the watch strap gets when being worn, this might work well . In any case, it is a cheap and easily reversible repair.

Hope this helps,
