Little bit more detail would be helpful, for example -
What kind of budget??
Is it for everyday wear or for special occasions??
What type of metal??
WR???

If budget is no object then may I suggest an older Rolex Explorer - a few AD's are likely to have them still

Good luck in your search

Having bought my Mrs a variety of watches over the years, including some very pretty Jaeger and Cartier examples.... The one she loves? The one she never takes off? A white Chanel J12.

It's not a watch (in the purist sense), it's jewellery, but she adores it.

No offence intended - but why would you want a bunch of Internet strangers to give you tips on what is a very personal experience?

Make a day of it, take her to a proper watch Jeweller that had a good range and spend a couple of hours trying stuff on.

If you have a budget up to £10k, try a few places in bond street, or go to the Burlingtom Arcade and try to find her a birth year watch.

The fact is that the most enjoyment you and her will get from whichever watch you buy will be those few hours.

A week after you've bought it it will be just another watch.

Or just buy her a Rolex from some anonymous Internet retailer and be done with it.

Point taken chap, whilst there are thousands of blokes watches, there is in my brief search a relative paucity of similarly decent ladies watches, but appreciate the Royal Exchange tip - only passed by there a couple of times previously but will be there this week.

A bump after 6 whole minutes??

As has been said, take your Good Lady out for a day (or two) and give her all the time she needs in each jeweller's to make her own mind up. If she's half as fussy about things like this than my GF then it's the best option!

Age of lady?

The simple Cartier tank (gold black strap) is the "little black dress" of watches. My wife has hers welded to her wrist.
