After deciding on my next watch a while ago, a recent thread has thrown an f'ing curveball at me. Now I have a choice of 2.

Opinions please!

Buy both, send them to me for a full appraisal, I'll then send on to you the worst best one!

Seriously, the Chronoscope does it for me, though either would be good. They look like they could both do the casual/smart thing well, the Chronoscope gets my vote though purely based on it's style.

Agreed - the Max Bill is a design classic

It's very nice but why bother with the teeny blobs of lume?

I prefer the look of the bottom one (not sure if that's the Max Bill).

The Max Bill Chronoscope is a wonderful watch.

(I've got a white one)

Just bear in mind that the Chronoscope has no water resistance whatsoever. So don't get it wet.

They're really rather bright and certainly suffice for time-telling in the wee hours, as the hands are lumed too.

Your one has numbers on it, non? I think I prefer this version, but struggling to find a picture of a black one on Google.

Not quite in my Monster's league though - I could almost read by that when camping. smile

Oh, absolutely. And the Monster is but a flickering candle in the darkness compared to the lume-beast that is my Planet Ocean.

But the Chronoscope saves you switching the bedside light on, and that's all it needs to do.

Yep. I was going to have the un-numbered version, but then I fell head over for the digit "4" on the dial, and that was that.

Everytime I see that watch I keep trying to think of a nicer looking one and failing.

I saw a selection of the Max Bill types in the window of a shop in Fleet Street today. Might be worth seeing one for real before you buy. I think they were the same price as Chronomaster.

Chrono on a dress watch always seemed pointless and fussy to me.
