I have my dad's old Rotary, from the '70s, I guess. I would love to get it repaired but am not sure where to start. Have you got an suggestions? I sent it back to Rotary a couple of years ago and they returned it with a standard letter saying 'It's obsolete'. I should probably also get the glass replaced.

Thanks very much

Miller,

I too have a 1970s Rotary. It's a chronograph and clearly has a yacht racing timing purpose. I love it to bits. Unfortunately, I know the main spring is broken so I also know gettting it up to full working order is going to be difficult.

Here's the encouraging news. I also have an Omega Seamaster model number 2541.80.00. Two years ago it needed a full service and I actually took it to Swiss Time Services in Essex who are Omega's official UK service company. They did a great job. Anyway, I was wearing my Porsche Design PO11 that day and they told me they could service it too. So I asked about my Rotary and they said it shouldn't be a probelm but I should send it to them to inspect and then they would tell me if it could be fixed and, if so, they would send me an estimate. It's about time I got round to doing this.

Maybe you could give them a call and see what they say. You can Google them for all the contact information.

Any BHI accredited repairer should be able to help you. They maintain a list of independent repairers at http://www.bhi.co.uk/repairer.html

Blimey, that was quick. Fantastic responses. I will follow up on the suggestions and let you know what happens. It's quite important to me, because it was my dad's watch, and I was quite surprised by Rotary's complete lack of interest.

Thanks very much.
