Email today from Creation Watches:

"Seiko has introduced a brilliant and at the same time affordable movement in the 4R35"......"The really awesome thing about this movement is that it is hand-winding capable!"

Surely the really incredible thing is that the Seiko 5 movements AREN'T hand winding capable? Am I ignorant? Are there lots of watches out there that you can't wind by hand?

I've done a bit of reading on the 4R35 movement and there seems to be quite a bit of negativity towards it! There seems to be the opinion that it's not a particularly good movement, especially in comparison to other Seiko movements available. It's certainly not revolutionary though ...

Lots of Seikos automatic movements cannot be handwound. I do not know why.

What's revolutionary about an auto that's capable of being hand-wound?

I think the rotor is revolutionary.

They all have that though, it must be the revolutions that the crown will turn in order to wind it ...
