Was hoping for a bit of steering here! My dad and I have gotten into watches a bit in the last year, bought on by the discovery that despite never having conversations about watches previously, in conversation one day we realised that the Omega Speedmaster Professional is our all time favourite watch that we both want to own some day.. kind of spooky! Must be in the genes!

Anyway - I was thinking of getting him a watch for christmas. Despite the love for them, neither of us have anything even remotely close to Speedmaster kind of money - so my budget is up to about £100. I'd go over for something really nice.

He likes reasonably small stuff (not some enormous chronometer), and something unfussy and simple. He currently has a nice gold Lord Elgin and another watch (the make of which I'm unsure of) which is basically gold with a simple blue leather strap, round face. So in that sort of style, with that sort of brief, and wanting to get something that isn't a fashion watch, something small, unfussy, tasteful.. but something with good pedigree I'm liking the following:

I quite like the thought of a Tissot but think they're going to be out of my budget. Can anyone else impart some opinions / suggestions? Thanks smile

Samuels have 50% off all Rotary watches at the moment, so you could pick up a bargain.

Also have a look at Orient. I recently bought a Mako and its easily in the same league as similar priced Seiko's, in terms of value for money.

I thought the shops had 50% off? Might be worth a trip to your local branch for a bit more discount?

Another brand I have just thought of is J Springs, they are part of the Seiko empire and fall within your buget

Based on the style of watch you are after:

The rest of the site is worth a look round too, they are a good company to deal with.
