MWC reliability
Discussion
The various watch forums are full of a mixture of positive and negative info re these watches but its interesting that an oil company bought 250 watches from them, having done their homework, with no problems. I'm aware that the quality is not going to be Breitling or Tag but their mechanical submariner at about £100, as long as it tells the time, can't be bad value.
I considered them once but I read a few forum posts debating how you can get a mechanical movement for £100. The conclusion seemed to be the movement wouldn't be Swiss but rather poor quality Chinese or similar. For £100 you struggle to get a battery operated movement from CWC.
In the end I went for a Precista PRS10 from timefactors.com. Great watch and great service.

To be honest I've gone and bought their submariner type a week ago as a used example on ebay. Thought I would see what it would look like having been used by someone before me. Surprised by the weight and feel, little larger than my genuine Rolex Submariner but that is nearly 20 years old now. The back had been opened so I took it off to check the mechanical movement. No identification marks, probably should read "Made in China", but now worn solidly for eight days and have not had to change the time at all and date turns over within two mins of my Rolex. Have decided to send it to a proper watch service agent for a service so hopefully it can be a reliable daily watch. Thinking of having the dial painted Viper Green whilst there to match my old 911.
Bringing this up to date. I'm still wearing that watch without it having a service since I bought it. Keeps time, can't ask for more than that. Probably once a month I take it back a couple of minutes but no more than that. It doesn't have the sharp edges of my Submariner so doesn't wear trouser pockets' edges or snag sweaters. Actually I've sold my Submariner as I wasn't wearing it.
This MWC I wear it all the time during the day on my right wrist and I'm right handed. So if I put my hand in the sea to do something to an outboard motor the watch goes into the sea. If I jump off a boat for a swim it gets wet. It goes into the shower daily and I wear it when I'm riding horses. I have no connection with MWC, in fact , trying to get a response from them about a question is difficult but this particular watch is very good. In fact I have three of them. One with a black case and an expensive alligator strap I bought that I wear when going out in the evening and a s/s version on a red leather strap that I took the bezel insert out of and had a local jewellery designer put a plain silver band in its place. Looks very different and gets good comments.
I have a friend with an Invicta as a daily, despite a lovely collection in his safe, and the MWC looks so much better.
