The Rolex GMT-Master 'Rootbeer' - with its nipple dial and distinctly 70's palette of colours - is definitely one to divide opinions. I for one love it, but what do you think?

The dial colour I could live with.

The gold, I can't abide.

If it was that color with stainless/silver instead of gold I would be tempted. As it stands, you couldn't pay me to wear gold on any watch- especially a rolex.

Loved the rootbeer since I saw clint eastwood wearing one in 'Firefox' as a kid.

Looks pretty good without the gold:

This is pure class!

Everyone should have a bit of steel & gold in their watch collection smile

Not many Rolex's I hate.

This is one of them.

Without the lighter portion of the bezel it would look ok. There are some new Tudors very similar.

I could never live with a cyclops.

I honestly can't see the point in them. If you can't see the date, move the watch closer. I can't understand unbalancing a watch by fixing a problem that doesn't exist.

Nice piece in the steel otherwise.

I have a feeling bi-metal will be the next big thing in watches.

Its so widely disliked by the majority its inevitable it will be hipster / trendy cool just to be different.

Plenty of us love Bi-metallic watches but we tend to get shouted down by dull SS fanboys that seem more concerned with residual values than aesthetic beauty.

That's how I feel. Perfectly happy with other brands and not having one but it just seems right on a Rolex.

Jeepers, I made that cyclops comment almost three years ago. Haven't changed my mind though.

If anyone knows of a 1977 1655 Explorer II that Rolex forgot to put a cyclops on, let me know.. I'll be 40 soon and I'm starting to think about grails / selling a lung.
