Not really. It's designed to look like a DSSD, but doesn't carry any Rolex markings.

The key word is homage.

No it can't be fake unless it has Rolex written on it, technically speaking!

Replica would be a better description.

So what about the trademarked hour hand then? Not to mention the actual design of the watch being pretty much identical to the Sea Dweller.

So if it is a tribute watch, would you buy it for the looks or would you buy it because it looks like a Rolex?

And ...(was bought to try before buying an actual DSSD)...

and ...Is the closest one I have come across to matching originals size and weight.

Gives it away as not being genuine.

£120! Does it tell fake time better than a fake casio?

Of course it could if it incorporated features that are copyrighted or trademarked, like the clasp, bezel design, crown, etc. Simply plastering a brand name on the side isn't the be-all and end-all of copyright infringement.

Just read that other thread; consider this one now defunct.

Real: Good
Homage: Marginally Acceptable
Fake: Massive Bumderage

The watch referenced in the add is a homage therefore is not a copy. Rolex may take a different view though.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Not really...

Look at the alpha watches... I would happily buy many of those, or a steinhart , etc...

Yep I have a real watch and as long as the homage doesnt have the real name I think they are fine.

Certainly beats buying a Boss, gucci or police watch.

If they are mechanical too, thats even better.

I do if you are talking to me...

I just like several different styles and dont have £20k in disposable income to buy the other 4 watches I want, but happy to buy a homage for if I fancy a different style.

My Planet Ocean steel bracelet can only copy with 95% of all outfits I wear.
