Watchguy.co.uk service review
Discussion
Hello all,
I have very high expectations of the firms and products I use and I always like to write up a review for peers after having received particularly good (or bad) service.
I have just used Christian Dannemann at www.watchguy.co.uk to service one of my watches. Not a particularly valuable one, a Seiko 6309 diver, but important to me none the less.
I found Christian's website after doing some websearches for various problems that I noticed the watch had; running very fast, day/date feature a bit wacky etc. It seemed watchguy.co.uk was as good a place as any to send it.
We had a nice email correspondence before I sent the watch. Christian told me what the service would cost, what he expected I would need in replacement parts (mainspring, gaskets etc.) plus their cost and an idea of turnaround time.
All sounded good so I sent the watch off.
Within a couple of hours of it arriving Christian had the case opened up and sent over 3 high res photos of what the problems were.
Then 2 days later I received an email saying it was all done and to log on to his website/blog where he writes up all of his pieces of work. Mine is here: http://watchguy.co.uk/service-seiko-6309-729a/
He recased the watch and kept it for 24 hours to check it was running right. I received it back today, just 6 days later. Immaculately packaged, cleaned, working perfectly, a hand written note, a spare crystal gasket that came with what he bought but didn't use and a little packet of Haribo.
Absolutely top service and a superb guy, I'll be using him again for more stuff without a shadow of a doubt.
That's it folks.
Oh, standard stuff - I'm not related to or connected to Christian Dannemann / www.watchguy.co.uk in any way at all. Just a very happy customer.

The service itself cost £130. The parts were about £25.
The thing that sold it to me in the first place was his commitment. He said if you send the watch to him he will open it up and let know know what needs doing. If you want it done then he gets cracking, if not he sends you the watch back - no charge.

He did a Zenith for me last year Ben.
I had a pretty similar experience to yourself by the sound of it, told me everything which was needed and how much it was going to be, even shopped around for parts to get them cheaper.
I contacted him earlier this year, but his wife had just been taken ill, so I apologised and left it as he said he wasn't taking anything else on for a while as he wanted to prioritise.
I hope that everything is OK with him, and I'll be in touch soon with an old Omega which needs a dose of looking at.

Just had my Seamaster serviced/repaired by Watchguy. Really impressed by their service. I was in the queue for a short while but once work started the communication was superb. Last count was 37 photos, step-by-step, of the work including shots of the screens from the testing equipment. Watch was returned is a smart travel case. Excellent vfm.
