So, after toying with the idea of sending my watch back to Citizen for the glass to be replaced having scratched it some time ago, my mind was finally made up by managing to rip the crown wheel off when I caught it on a door handle.

So does anyone want to have a stab at the repair cost for both the glass and the crown wheel?

It's only gone off today so I'm not expecting a response from Citizen until some time next week, but it'll be interesting to see what people think this would be.

Just out of interest is this one of the Skyhawk range as mine has lost the bezel, also been toying with the idea of having it replaced.

Watching this with interest. My beloved Ti Ecodrive is looking a bit 'worn' with a bullseye in the corner of the glass... I'd also dearly like some way of immobilising the crown as it seems to constantly switch itself to chrono/local time etc which us frustrating...

I was quoted £170ish for a service on my skyhawk.

It's an early one, and the battery has fully died.

Haven't yet taken them up as the dealer I spoke to couldn't even let me know what was included.

Yep, especially when the jeweller I saw couldn't articulate what would be included.

Mine is however a sentimental piece, so I'd imagine at some stage I'll get it sorted.

To be honest, it shouldn't have happened, as it was always left in the light.

Hopefully you'll have a better result (then you can let me know where!).

About 5 years ago I had my titanium waterproof watch serviced as it failed to work with a new battery. Cost £65 for the service (via a high street jeweller)and I was quoted £30 for replacement glass.

Ok, so the estimate is in.

Anyone want to take a guess at the cost(s) before I post them up?

For info, they have broken the costs down into three categories...

1) Crown and stem replacement

2) Standard glass exchange

3 Water resistance test for 100m+

My guess is already up!

Go on, let me know - if it's better than I think mine will be getting sorted...

Come on, where's the fun in that? wink

Costs as follows:

1) Crown and stem replacement.....£19.15

2) Standard glass exchange.....£19.99

3) Water resistance test for 100m+.....£20.58

I think I'll give them the nod for this biggrin

Got to love the fact that the most expensive item on the list is the water resistance test!

For info, I went direct to Citizen via their website.

You download a form to fill in and then just post it all off to -

CITIZEN WATCH UNITED KINGDOM
Service Centre
PO Box 161
Wokingham
Berkshire
RG41 2FS

Good to know, ta. I'd like to try to find a solution for my loose crown too, think its a design fault but having the watch switch to CHR all the time is most annoying..

Fraser Hart charged me thirty quid for a replacement clasp on mine. Bet Citizen would have come out cheaper...

Got to say, I thought it would be in the £150 to £200 region, so although it is an estimate I'm more than happy.

bounce

I'll be getting mine sorted then.

It's completely dead - spent over a year in a box due to a chaotic house move, and despite leaving it under a lamp for a number of days nothing registers. From what I can gather (I've lost the manual), the eco drive module needs resetting, which I have no clue how to go about.

For that sort of money I'll get Citizen to send it back fully sorted, then I just have to keep it in the light!

Which demonstrates very well the rip off of having a high end watch serviced and repaired.........I remember many years ago working in Saudi Arabia and breaking the glass on my Rolex......visited the local Rolex dealer who sent me upstairs to the workshop. They replaced the glass then and there and checked I hadn't damaged the hands. Whole job took 5 min and they charged me £20. If this happened in the UK it would take Rolex 6 weeks to complete and cost £120
