I've had a replica GMT now for quite a while and it's starting to look tired, I've never had a watch serviced before but would like this one to be cleaned up and whatever else they do in order to keep it in top shape for years to come.

Could my local goldsmiths carry the work out? What cost would I be looking at?

Thanks,

Tanguero

You may have a problem finding any reputable watchmaker that will touch a fake.

Why on earth would you spend 200 quid plus to service a ten quid fake?

Didn't want a mega service, perhaps a good clean and polish, ensure water resistance etc. I know they're not as complex as the real thing but they do the job just as good, it's just a dim view a jeweller might take when I bring it in.

Btw it wasn't £10, more £150 which is quite a lot for a watch.

Does it say Rolex on the dial when it isn't a Rolex? It's a fake and it's illegal. If you take it to a jeweller they'll confiscate it, and rightly so.

You paid 150 quid for it? You're an idiot as it's the same as a 20 quid POS, you were just the right sucker for them.

HTH.

What do you think would happen if your Mrs took a fake LV handbag into LV for a new zip? Bye bye.

It's illegal. I'm not kidding!

Why is it harsh?

Its not a homage of a rolex... its a fake rolex.

If you want a homage, go and buy one, dont buy an illegal fake and then say its harsh if someone takes it off yourself, when you are helping prop up the market in illegal counterfeit goods.

If you want a good homage of a rolex, look at a Seiko skx007k2 or something similar.

i hate fakes ....they are normally owned by losers pro-porting to be something they are not......im sure the OP is not such a person and probably has a draw full of real Rolex's and Pateks and the fake Rolex is just a bit of fun to wind us all up

Erm no - I've got no chance of affording anything near to the real thing.

Just as you seem to stereo type people with their replicas I am sure the same, or worse occurs with the people that have the real thing.

well work harder and smarter and one day perhaps you will have the real thing on your wrist........it's not a bad aspiration ........coming onto a watch forum and asking how much its going to cost to have a fake Rolex serviced is the post of a troll

I should have maybe not used service - minor fettle really, I've had a PM from a member who's offered a hand, and he also warned me of the massive hatred and snobbery around the ownership of replica watches.

It's not snobbery for me. It's the fact that fakes (of whatever) make it harder for someone to buy a pre-owned version of the real thing and be certain you're not being ripped off.

Why is it snobbery when people hate illegal counterfeits.

Get a hommage and its fine, not fine to get a fake and have the name rolex on it.

You obviously want people to think you have a Rolex when you cant afford one, so it can be suggested that its you that has the issue, trying to make out something you are not by using a fake.

If you just like the design then the hommages look almost identical, just they miss the word Rolex... but Im guessing its the name Rolex you want rather than a hommage.
