Simple digital watch for running
Discussion
A little of the normally beaten track here in the watch forum. But.....
I have a couple of mechanical watches (Omega classic and IWC) to wear to work, but i am now looking for a simple digital to use for running. I dont need a running computer, just something with a stop watch and the flexibility to leave in my watch box for weeks on end, until needed.
I identified the Timex Ironman - but like the Timex Expedition compass too. There is a chap in the states who is making paracord straps for these. They look amazing.
Anyone here got a Timex? Are they any good?

I had one years ago and it was a great watch, 100% reliable.... but have no idea if they are any good todayI have a couple of mechanical watches (Omega classic and IWC) to wear to work, but i am now looking for a simple digital to use for running. I'd probably go for the cheapest Casio G shock solar/radio controlled you can find.
You'll never need to set it or change a battery and if you fall over through exhaustion it will survive
The straps seem to be the single failure point on them.
I was going to suggest this too - its really handy having the radio controlled watch to set my automatic watch from. You'll never need to set it or change a battery and if you fall over through exhaustion it will survive

I have a Timex Ironman. Cannot fault it, OCD aside(*), for wet, dry, and laps. I do use the timer and one alarm but don't see the point in the two other alarms or the calendar function at all if I'm being completely honest.
- + and - on the menu system are not symmetric on the buttons.
Skippie - Do you mean that you have a Timex Expedition Compass for sale?
I have tiny wrists - so a massive watch is not what i want.
I have been looking at this model.

It's a big watch, but then I do have skinny wrists ;-)
