A bit of a quandary here.

I've had a fake Rolex Sub for 10 years that is a lovely thing to behold and very nicely made. It has recently been unreliable, keeping good time (losing 10-20 seconds a day) for a day or so, then suddenly losing 10-20 minutes over a couple of hours.

Any thoughts on best course of action to take would be welcomed.

I guess my options are adjustment, repair, or replacement of the movement. Are there any reputable repairers to recommend? If I need to get a replacement movement, any recommendations &/or rough idea of cost would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I have to agree with Mr G., but you could always put a real Rolly movement in there. Then, everyone would think that you're another fake wearing wannabe whilst you and only you would know that you're not.

Wouldnt fit, unless it was a movement out of a smaller case. The inside dimensions of the case don't look anything like the inner gubbins of a real Rolex.

Why not get a real case then fit in a real movement?

First point; it was a genuine request for constructive advice from people who know more about the subject than I do. My bad / misjudgement.

A gentle point in my defence, that nobody considered, but I can see both sides of the ‘fake’ argument as I have more than one watch including a single-handed dress watch and an Ebel that is a little more elegant and subtle than a Rolex. I cheerfully admit to anyone who can be bothered to ask, that the Rolex (which was a gift) is fake. I wear a £20 Casio when there is any chance of submersion.

However, this one wears nicely and is well made (it’s lasted 10 years!). If we ignore the brand name for a moment. The question perhaps more fundamentally was, will it cost more to fix it than to throw it away and buy a replacement divers watch? I will not throw a perfectly good watch away that requires a simple adjustment. If necessary, I would happily buy a Seiko or Steinhart if I can find one that wears as comfortably as this.

It is perhaps a shameful reflection of what is an otherwise useful and interesting forum, that the most helpful and constructive help/advice came via PM – for which many thanks - as the fellow PH’ers obviously did not want to help in public and incur the wrath of a vitriolic minority.

having seen the arguments on this forum in the past week regarding fake Rolex's, you would have to be a complete idiot to think that you were going to get some constructive advise. I don't believe for a second that was your intention, i think you were at best being mischievous.

No doubt some other bored individual will be along shortly to ask how to replace the battery in his fake IWC

anyway bored of this forum today I'm going for a pint .....have a great weekend all .......even you Mr fake Rolex smile

I was being ironic.
By flipping the logic on it's head, I was implying that fake wearers are wannabes who would like people think they have the real thing whilst only they know that they don't.
