Please excuse my first wander into the Watches section.... But I thought I'd risk the wrath and ask if anyone is the resident Omega expert. I am not a watch/jewelry person per-se, but the Speedmaster Racing has caught my eye.

Any buying advice out there? Thanks in advance.

What do you want to know?

Do you want to know about the watch, or just where to get the best price?

And is the original version (approx. 1970) or the recent reissue?

Is there anything specific you want to know? You tend not come across them too often, hence can I enquire whether it's my old watch that's caught your eye?....I recently part ex'd it with Hackett Watches (now currently reserved)..

Great watch, that I had from new in 2004. I particularly liked this model as it had no Schumacher references.

Bit of both I guess... In the grand scheme of things its not a massively expensive watch, I bought my old man a Rolex for his 60th a couple of years ago and that was my first foray into anything above entry level Tag. I'm not buying it for what other people think of it aesthetically if that makes sense, I like the look of it (Rubber Strap Slate/Yellow). But I guess it's a lot more than I would spend on a fashion item. Do you think they are good watches - Am I going to be looking at £200 a year servicing etc?

And where do I get it from - Meeting at the end of London Bridge with a bag of used notes aside. Thanks again.

I was immediately thinking of the MKII with racing dial!

Think the OP needs to be a bit more specific.

Ah no it's not that one - was looking at the rubber bracelet. Nice watch though, I have a metal Tag, a leather Longines, and quite fancy something a bit different.

It's co-axial with the new hair spring so servicing every 6-8 years. Nice watch if you like a chrono. I find it a little small though?

Have you tried it on yet?

The other watch posted is a speed master mk ii around about the 4k mark where as the speed master on the rubber your looking at comes in about or just under 3k? Where in the country are you located?

North Hampshire / London. Travel a bit but never look at airport prices - I haven't been looking for a watch for some time - I presume this is an avenue to go down....

Thanks - had seen the Iconic Watches website - just secondhand/unworn? I guess these websites are OK.... not like buying a car/bike is it, I guess that is where my issue comes from. Thanks for your help.

Iconic sourced watches are new.

I've come across plenty on various forums who have used them without any problems.
