How hard are these to get hold of.. I called in at my local AD this weekend and they said they don't even have a waiting list any more as there's so many after one. Is this the case at all dealers?

I want a new one from an authorised dealer

if so many are after one, then you need a waiting list !!!

cannot see so many people after one though the 2nd hand market is always flooded with these things.

It's another Daytona thread, assuming this isn't trolling, what sort of Daytona are you looking for, Steel? Yellow Gold? White Gold? Platinum? Bi-Metal? Diamonds? No Diamonds? Bracelet? Strap? Face Colour?

Let's assume you're talking about a Stainless Steel model. If you phone around a few out of town, smaller independent dealers you may find one in stock, otherwise you're looking at the grey market route for immediate availability.

When I had mine it took 2 1/2 years, but I thought that the market had dropped off a bit?
Or maybe that's just used because there are plenty floating around now.

Two reasons, we get a new Daytona thread about once a month and you weren't specific about which model you were looking for.

You will probably have to pay a premium to find one of those ex stock

I got mine (SS white face) in December last year, after a ten month wait, only went in to price a new strap for my 23 year old Sub date, got talking and ended putting my name down on their waiting list.
Came in time for my 50th, I think I am still on Goldsmiths in the Metro Centre, never heard a peep from them, must be five years ago when I went on that one!

I know it isn't much use to you but it only seems to be in the UK there is this fabled waiting list. My local dealer out here in the Middle East always has them in stock, both SS white and SS Black. They also shift them pretty quick and get 2 or three of each on a monthly basis. I was surprised they come in a sealed little plastic case like a casio and then they put them with a box and papers from the back of the shop. The price seems to fluctuate here to keep them at 7,000GBP which is what I picked mine up for.

For some of the serious Rolex collectors who buy them to stick them in the safe receiving them in the sealed plastic container with the styrofoam is a pre-requisite of the purchase.

I didn't know that, the first thing I did was peel off all the stickers and pass the plastic box back over the table to the salesman. smile
