I'm looking for something new. These are my current watches, to give an idea of what I like:

https://www.rakuten.co.jp/yu-ki/img10091303707.jpe... - I wear this every day, it has been getting bashed & abused for 9 years
http://www.jacobtime.com/osc/images/MK8180.jpg - I wear this when I want to be subtle ;-)
http://ab-bg.com/olymp/time/lightbox/images/casio_... - This is about as "classy" as I've got

So - I like quite big "tough" faces (I have big wrists) and I prefer "busy"/interesting designs.

I would like something a bit more subtle than my others, but not boring. I would also like something with a white face, but I realise that subtle & white probably won't go together.

I have a budget of £250ish.

Ideas please!

Tissot are a good choice at that price point.

The PRC200 comes in black or white dial (a colleague had both!) and the white looks good on a brown strap.

Seiko do some nice automatics for that much or less and of course, plenty of quartz watches from both them and Citizen.

A bit left-field given your previous choices, but £250 can buy you plenty of vintage watches - An Omega wouldn't be out of reach and something like a Longines or Tissot easily obtainable.

My answer is still: Hamilton!

A Swiss made watch from an established brand. Part of Swatch with an ETA 2824-2 movement and a pedigree as long as your arm.

The above are good examples. The leather strapped first watch is available on a bracelet for same price as the slightly larger model that I have shown. 40mm-42mm and with or without a day feature.

Id buy whichever you fancied on a bracelet and then buy a leather Hirsch strap if you wanted one.

If it isn't either of these two/three Hamilton watches then Id suggest a pair of mechanical Seikos from the same supplier.

Fully agree with GC8 above on Hamilton, it's where my £250 would go. They are looking even better value at the moment thanks to the strong pound. I note from your OP that you would prefer a white faced watch, the Hamilton GC8 has linked to is available with a white face http://www.creationwatches.com/products/hamilton-w...

Sorry: I thought that I had selected the white faced version.

I'm a bit surprised no-one (me included, admittedly biggrin) hasn't suggested looking at Timefactors watches.

£250 would buy you a Smiths Everest.

For £245, it comes on a lovely solid bracelet, although I really like the look of it on a strap, so never wear mine on the bracelet.

Lovely watch for double the money, imo.

Each to their own.

I do feel that you have bought a training shoe when people were steering you towards a reasonable pair Loake brogues which were on offer.

And if he's happier in a Training shoe, that's what he should have bought.

Nothing more pointless than buying a watch someone else likes smile

Fair enough. Still - love the look of my training shoe and with titanium/sapphire it will hopefully see me through the next 9 years the way my battered old g-shock has! I didn't want something I had to take too much care of.

I was tempted to go for something more classy and maybe Swiss, and I liked some of the models posted above but I can't say anything at £250 really excited me. If I had the budget, I would have loved to go for one of these: 1, 2, 3
