Well my grail was delivered this afternoon and to say I am over the moon is an understatement. I just love the workmanship that goes into Glashutte watches. It is a very comfortable watch to wear and bang on the right size for a dress watch IMO (39.4mm) I never tire of looking through that crystal at the movement. Sheer class. Anyway here are a few pics.

And the box is a bit of alright to

Thanks For looking

Spectacular and pleased you didn't go for the oversized version.

Enjoy.

Why make such a big case and then only use a small portion of the face getmecoat

Very nice. How does the double swan neck regulator work?

Thanks for the positive comments guys. They really are works of art. I have had my loupe all over it for a couple of hours, shame I have to wear it. Don't know all about the double swan neck but I will love finding out. The only downside is the strap as a buckle, I really would like a deployment on it I think its safer. If anybody knows where I could source a OE I would be grateful.

A beauty - just needs a moonphase smile

I'd try GO direct or alternatively, Wempe are ADs in London IIRC.

Very nice pickup - enjoy!

Interesting they spell 5 (funf) as fuenf. Never noticed that before.

5 is normally written as fünf. When an umlaut (the double dot above the u) can't be used, presumably in this case because the lettering wouldn't be the same size, an extra e is added after the vowel, as that's the phonetic impact of the umlaut.

Lovely watch. I would love the panomatic reserve.

Just like Glashutte becomes Glashuette if you don't use an umlaut.

Yep, thought that was the case...I guess engraving an umlaut-ed letter must be pretty difficult smile

I think I'd spend more time looking at that gorgeous movement than anything else!

Why's a deployant clasp safer than a tang buckle? confused I ask, because I was considering the opposite (i.e. changing a deployant to a tang buckle on another watch, because I find a tang buckle more comfy). What's the advantage of the deployant?

in my experience the deployment buckle doesn't twist as much as a tang buckle......it seems to stay in place far better......the disadvantage being that your skin is touching the metal of the deployment and so you tend to get a mark left on your wrist.

I think it depends on the buckle as well. I bought a cheapish one off amazon to go on a spare strap once and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever. The one on my Tag on the other hand I hardly noticed.
