Specifically, Steinhart.

The strengthening £ has made the Ocean One (without 19%VAT, including 15EUR shipping) a £247 watch when ordered direct.
That's a £75 saving, but i'm assuming I'll get slapped with some sort of import tax and also assuming it actually arrives un-stolen.

More bother than it's worth or easy path to a saving?

Cheers

European Union wink
No VAT payable (paid in Germany) and no customs payments either.

I knew that EU was good for something, Farage has just lost a vote.

So based on this:

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/OCEAN-1-BLACK,14...

I'd pay the incl. VAT price + shipping and that's it?

2 weeks ago I bought a TAG Heuer CAH1111 from the USA via an online order..

Watch cost was £613 inc shipping on a FEDEX 4 day service, import duty and taxes were £130

There is an online duty and taxes calculator which got the figure right pretty much exactly..

Very easy process overall, got a watch with a RRP in the UK of £1200 for £745, brand new!!

Yeah, German VAT and shipping.

The EU at its most basic level really is just a trade agreement.

Thanks for your help.

If this works on a £300 watch, what's stopping me saving hundreds on a Rolex or similar? Like Webby has mentioned.

Nothing to stop you. No chance I'd pay UK retail prices.
I saved £1600 buying a watch from Germany the other Week.

With respect, and I'm not trying to pi** on your bonfire .....but..... RRP of Tags are a joke......They have a shop in the outlet village close to where I live where most of the range is available at 30-50% discount.....hence the reason you can buy them so much cheaper in the USA

Absolutely nothing. Look on Chrono24 for the best deals, (for Rolex its normally Italy), do your homework on the seller, and pay by credit card if you can. Some of the grey dealers here in the UK import from countries like Greece and Italy, add a couple of hundred quid, then sell them on.

I'm glad to hear you've had a positive experience ordering direct.

My affection has swayed on to the Military Vintage. It's a heart vs head decision at the moment.
