Tudor Oysterdate 'big block' - thoughts and views?
Discussion
Anyone on here have any experience with these - must admit they look rather appealing - not sure which models are worth getting , what they are typically worth and what their reputation is?
Thoughts and ideas much appreciated ... Am thinking of one for my next watch as I don't have a chronograph ..

Not much to add, bud, but one of my favourite chronos of all time!
I had a look at a few when I was in SG... Never bought one as I thought they were a bit pricey for a 7750.
However, the prices have no gone up another 50% or so, by the looks of things!
Well made, classic design, oyster bracelet etc etc - Do it!

Yes I have had one for some time.

In essence the big block case is the same case as the 16600 Sea Dweller. Movement is a Valjoux 7750 which is tried and tested but you will perhaps notice the 7750 rotor movement - mine has been serviced by Rolex and keeps very good time and is (in my eyes) a very attractive watch. Some people call them the "Thinking Mans Daytona"
Three models were offered 79160, 79170 and 79180 each had various dial faces.
Mine is a 79160 (which seems to be the rarest of the three) with the fixed tachymeter bezel with silver dial and black subdials. Versions came with metal bezels which were fixed or moveable. All have plexi glass and as such have a certain lustre that sapphire glass does not have.
Values have moved up but not the same level as Rolex Daytonas.
