New Apple watch available in 18K gold
Discussion
Thanks for the link....
It is interesting, just a few days ago Marc Newson joined Apple (designer of the Ikepod watches) and the strap of these new Apple watches does look a little familiar
Having said that, I think the design looks nice from Apple and I am not sure why they are going on about the hardness of Gold, at 18k the idea is to mix other metals to make the gold stronger and better suited for applications such as watches - still, it will draw the usual Apple buyers in.
These are pretty expensive watches when you consider you need at least an iPhone 5 for these to work properly....

I've been awaiting this announcement with great anticipation and I really think these are the natural stepping stone for phones / availability of information at your finger tips. I was very excited to get one.
Unfortunately I'm one of the small number of people who wear my watch on my right hand, because I'm left handed. By the looks of the video the 'Digital Crown' feature (which clearly does a lot) will be very unergonomic for me to use as I'll constantly be crossing over the screen.
There's very little chance they will bring out a leftie version so my only hope is that it can be worn upside down, essentially solving the problem... But the crown is offset slightly which makes me think this won't be possible sadly.
Pity... I have inadvertently isolated myself from being able to own one of these by a stupid choice I made when I was about 1 years old!

If Apple but their clever rotation software in the watch, perhaps you could wear it upside down... Apple didn't seem to shout about it, but they are apparently offering choice over which side the crown is on. So there is a "leftie" version available.Unfortunately I'm one of the small number of people who wear my watch on my right hand, because I'm left handed. I'm reluctant to put a foot in either camp on this one having said (after owning a N95 (worst phone ever!)) that i wouldn't have a smart phone or iPhone.. but i cannot see me wanting a watch that needs charging frequently.
I have an Abacus watch (made by fossil) that I could sync with my then Sony phone. Charging it wasn't too much of an issue. I would plug it into my PC at work via the USB cable for an hour or so when I arrived and then it was good for a couple of days in theory. I quite liked it and it was quite nice if a bit bulky but now it's a pretty useless hunk of metal sat at home in the cupboard never to be used again. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone.
