Citizen Watch Repair
Discussion
Hi All,
I have an old citizen chronograph which was my dads. It's not worth a lot of money and its been stuck in a drawer for a good few years.
I recently found it out and recently took it to my local watch shop for a battery. A new battery was put in but it wasn't working. He said it would need to go back to Citizen for service / repair.
I contacted Citizen and I got this in reply:
Does anyone know any good independent which might be able to service and fix the watch? As I say, its not valuable, but I would like to get it working again rather than just chucking it in the bin
Thanks
Jim

Dear James,
Unfortunately we are unable to repair your watch on this occasion because spare parts are no longer available. By way of explanation, we enjoy spare parts support from our factory for a period of seven years from a models cessation, after this period we are reliant on whatever stocks we have in the UK and unfortunately these are now exhausted.
Sometimes spare parts are not needed to carry out a service, but we cannot predict this until we open the watch up, and once we have done this we feel that we are committed to complete the work. Unlike an independent repairer we are unable to use spurious parts, or to re-use seals and gaskets, but it may be the case that you can get your watch repaired by an independent repairer who is not restricted by such practices.
I trust that this will not detract from your option to choose the Citizen brand in the future.
Yours sincerely
The watch is has a calibre 6850 movement and maybe has water ingress or something like that, or maybe it does just need a good service.Unfortunately we are unable to repair your watch on this occasion because spare parts are no longer available.
