Have been given this rather well worn breitling which was working when i checked. Its in need of a tidy up but what is it worth in all honesty?

I'd visit http://breitlingsource.com and ask there.

A guess would be high hundreds, maybe a bit less as it'll need a service (and a decent strap!), but they'll know a lot more about the specifics.

It is ref #815 long playing - dating to the late 60s/ early 70s. Should have a 7736 inside and are very nice.

Yours has the original crown and most importantly the original pushers and hands, which are the most difficult bits to source.

edit- as above, the vintage section on breitling source is very good and full of very knowlegeable people smile

A good condition one (apparently) sold for £1750 on ebay (There's a discussion about it and the buyer on breitlingsource), so maybe £1000-£1200 for yours?

A cracking watch in good condition!

Serviced, in good nick, between £800 and £1200. More if it's solid gold rather than rolled or plated.

thank you for assistance. i had a feeling it would be a good movement with the age of it, but the glass is marked with various little marks, and the strap, to be fair, is horrid, not sure if original or from elsewhere. fairly well scuffed and marked.
i'm wearing his seamaster, which i love, but i've never been a fan of breitling tbh, so this may well go up for sale to someone who may wish to spend money on it etc.
i'm hopeful there is something else to post up pics of next time, as apparently my uncle has also left a vintage rolex behind, although not in great condition apparently. This was left to him by his dad, so its probably 1950s or 60s at least.

Ok thank you. Having started to chat on breitling forum and having seen one on a proper strap now im starting to think about the cost of having it cleaned up and polished etc? I have two lovely straps spare with my jlc master chrono which might well fit or something of that type as the breitling looks so much better on a decent strap as opposed to this horrible stainless one its on now
