Hello,

I’m seeking some advice , please.
I have a Rolex Sea Dweller.
I bought it new in December 2008.
I have never worn it , still as new with all stickers and paperwork.

I would like to sell it : Can anyone give me a realistic value please ???
I have looked at an internet auction site and they seem to be a little optimistic and not selling.

Thank You.

Last of the line 16600s had a V prefix serial number and I've seen it mentioned that they might command a premium, Dec 08 might just make this so worth noting.

I almost bought a V series Sea Dweller earlier this year, however it was used but with all papers etc. Yours I'd say is probably worth around £5.5K to £5.75K or maybe a tad more to the right buyer. Good luck with the sale.

Thank You all for your replies.

For those interested : It is a Dec 2008 watch , with a V ser. number.

Certainly make it known in any advert that its a V as it certainly won't do any harm, I'm sure there will be buyers out there for that watch in anycase.

You should expect bids of around £4000 from the trade dependant on their stock levels and privatley would attract £4500-£5000 for a nice model perhaps a smidge over £5k if you get it Rolex Serviced and thus it has the required maintainance and a warranty from them. The trade would market around £5500 to sell which remember they need to make a living and as theres the VAT on the margin plus they will pick up the bill if theres a issue with it.

As a last of the run it might be popular over other models given the choice. Nice watch and a must for any collection.

Agree with the above. Would say due to the condition £5500 is achievable. I'd pay around £4k trade.

Thank You for the comments.
I'm a bit puzzled though .
Why would I get it serviced as its new , never been worn and still has all its stickers in place ???

Thanks.

If its 6 years old then the oils have sat for a while and down the line we look for service history but I am sure it will be fine. Alot of these pieces that sit in safes are fine when brought back to life but some have dried out seals and sticky parts that might just need a little tickle. Youll never know till its worn regular plus the service adds a warranty that will appeal to potential buyers

OK , thanks for that.
I was under the impression that having all the stickers in place was what collectors wanted.
Hence why I have never worn it.
To be honest , thats why I'm selling it.
I have 2 date / sub's one I wear all the time except for work ( hands on engineer ) , the other is a used item but quite an earlier one.
This S/D is just doing nothing.
I will probably put it up for sale on here later this week.

Nick it don't need a service. Collectors in the market for a reference in the condition you have would not appreciate it being opened.

Don't sell it for less than 5k there are buyers out there willing to pay that.

It does not need a service. The person buying it is not buying it to wear. They are buying to put in their safe until they want to sell it. Yes, the chance someone actually wants to buy to wear exists, but why pay £5k+ for the watch when you can buy a nicely serviced example for less if wearing it is really what you want. Basically, paying £430 to service it at Rolex is not adding anything to anything.

Don't sell it for less than 5k. It might take some time but you'll get 5k for it

If you don't REALLY need the cash I would hang on to it. As good as a gold bar for rainy-day emergency!
