Hi all,
With Christmas fast approaching and the ideas bin completely empty this year I am considering buying a new watch for Mrs Orse.I know this is not original but I hope that the right watch will be met with appropriate approval.

At the moment she has a Chanel j12 in white(which I don't think much of ) and a Rolex datejust in ss/gold with inset diamonds on the face. The Rolex tends to get the most use and replaced a Cellini that didn't suit.

My thoughts are a ss Rolex of some sort so it is different enough or another make altogether such as JLC,Cartier or the like.Sports watches would be out.

Any advice /ideas would be welcome as well as advice on where to buy. Many thanks.

What about a YG Rolex President Day/Date, with the current fashion for larger watches they are about the right size for most female wrists. A friend just bought one for his wife and it looks very cool. I think that YG is fast coming back into fashion having been out in the cold for many decades.

the ladies Chanel J12 is quartz ....I had a black J12 with the ETA movement for a while .......the Rolex is a good suggestion or perhaps a JLC reverso

I think that Explorer II's look superb hanging from a girls wrist - ditto a daytona if you wanted to spend a little more. Or how about something like a GMT master with an aftermarket diamond set red / blue bezel?

Otherwise, you can't go wrong with a reverso - extra points if the reverse is engraved, though you may want to ensure she likes it before you commit to that.

Cartier Divan is a nice alternative to what you have and not a budget blower, bit larger than most ladies watches but not man size if she prefers to avoid a big sports number. as it has a leather strap it will complement what she already has, although the reverso is a better watch (my Mrs just loves the Cartier dials and styles)

What about an Explorer I - very clean looking watch and great (unusual) on a woman and a bargain to boot.

How about something like this? My other half loves her Tank as with the diamonds its a piece of jewellery too. I also happen to know where a fellow PHer could get one before Christmas if it helps?

Interesting thread, same sort of thing I'm going through - although my girlfriend has never had a nice watch before.

This is a really nice idea, I don't know if it's the sort of watch which would really need her to try on first though! Could be great, might look a bit odd. My girlfriend has olive skin and strangely gold doesn't really suit her, white gold / stainless steel is much nicer colour for her. Worth considering if looking at new gold colours.

That is stunning. I know my girlfriend wasn't a huge fan of the Tank vs Rolex models, but with the diamonds I think it takes it to the next level, really nice as a jewellery piece.

Thanks sealtt. If you ever want one there's a jewellers very close to me in Truro called Canary Blue that has one just like in that photo for about £3500 at the moment - i'm sure they'd do a little better than that for PHer though!
