Just gauging interest from the watch experts here, if you had a Moto 360 would you buy classic watch faces for it. For example would you be willing to buy a pack of Rolex faces. If so, what would you pay?

I had a similar idea for having an upmarket watch face on smartphones then just assumed that you'd never get permission from any of the watch manufacturers.

So, Patek Philippe, may we use the image of one of your watches to sell for 99p on another manufacturer's watch?

Non. Avez-vous des une girafe?

Just make it look very similar. You get lots of low end watches looking similar to high end stuff without problems.

I had exactly the same thought recently regarding acquiring a moto 360. I have no android devices, so planned on using it soley as a watch with faces from 'real' watches.

Buy? Probably not unless it was very cheap, as they are freely available on t'interweb with a little digging.

I am fairly sure that none of the brands would allow licensing in that manner. I am sure I read recently that they were issuing cease & desist orders for exactly this - meaning anyone selling them, wouldn't be for very long.

Agree.

Some on here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/themes-apps/facer-skins-boostr29-t2877368) though I find it interesting down the page "Admin Edit: We have removed Omega watch faces due to copyright/trademark complaint. Do not repost any Omega watch faces." So they're not happy about it smile

Licensed and legal hence buy. If the face came with a premium strap would you pay?

I have an iPhone app that displays various Timefactors watch faces. It cost about £1.50 as I remember.

If anyone is willing, I'd love it if you could do a smart watch and phone app for my watch brand. I had a programmer do one a while ago but it didn't come out exactly as I liked (he no doubt being a 14 year old kid from Idaho). No need for any royalties to me, so if you do it you can sell it or give it away for free.

Perhaps if you turn your smartwatch/phone upside down you can also have the self winding rotor on a gravity type thing so you can see it go around.
