I realise that the AP offshore tends to polarise opinions, but I've taken a liking to the ROO diver.
The only thing is, I would need to flip a couple of Rolex's to fund this, so my question is whether it would be madness to do this, or is the ROO diver a strong enough watch to use daily?
I'm also conscious that APs don't hold their value quite as well as most Rolex but this is an itch I might just need to scratch.

They're more than tough enough for daily wear. My watches get beaten to crap and my AP Volcano was no worse than any of the others besides G-Shocks.
As for being madness, probably. Depends if you buy for investment or pleasure really. For minimal depreciation or investmen,t if that's your thing a Rolex is a pretty solid place to have your money - whereas casinos or Penny stocks are probably safer than some APs. Some others aren't too bad. My Volcano did OK when I came to sell it, though it was seriously heavily discounted when I got it which lessened the blow somewhat. I'd hate to have paid anywhere near RRP for it.
Just buy what you like, it's only money.

Use mine daily, and i'd say its more than capable. The sharp corners can be prone to getting nicked, and the other surfaces will pick up scratches. But this is like any watch really.Mine's steel though, so depending on the version you're after this can affect it,
Carbon seems to have issues with the carbon being scratched off (so new case come refurbish time, relatively cheap vs steem),
Ceramic seems pretty scratch resistant, from long term reviews i've seen.

Go with what you like, and forget about the residuals, You may loose some money... but then again, you could loose even more money chopping and changing your car every few months, or down the urinal if you're a pub regular

But from what i've seen Steel Divers do okay (a bit like Rolex funnily enough), better than alot of the garish color / precious metal / LEs

Second hand ones on bracelets don't appear otherwise i'd have one of them.
You'd better get you wallet out then...... https://www.chrono24.com/en/audemarspiguet/royal-o...As a finder's fee, you can buy me this one while you're at it – https://www.chrono24.com/en/audemarspiguet/audemar...
Thanks for the input guys. I would definitely buy second hand, but as it's a good £4-5,000 less than on offshore chrono, which seem to lose that amount as soon as they're put on your wrist, the diver seems to hold on a wee bit better, maybe due to its smaller size and relative lack of millions of variations that the chrono has spawned over the years.
As Yeti says, a steel bracelet would make it even nicer.

I sold mine 2 weeks ago - it was a beautiful watch and I loved every minute of the 2.5 years I owned it.
If you buy second hand you really shouldn't lose much when you come to sell - I bought mine new (from a grey dealer) and sold it to a shop (for cash) for £1k less than I paid for it. I was pleasantly surprised.
Just note that yesterday AP discontinued the Diver with the solid case back and introduced a see through back so you can see the 3120 movement now.
