TAG 6000 service, worth it or not?

Yep.
They use the ETA 955 series movements at that age. It's easily good enough quality to service, but the difference in price between servicing and replacement is so small that it's not usually worth servicing. The whole movement can be bought and fitted for well under that price once you take the Brand Name tax off

Re cosmetic work, I'm happy to do relatively light polishing / brushing / refinishing if requested but if you're talking deep gouge removal then I try to steer clear of it - it's far too easy to loose the lines of the case and end up with an EBay style jelly-mould special unless it's what you do all day, every day
