Who can tell me about this watch?
Discussion
Can anyone give me any insight into this watch, who the maker is, where it is from, what the movement is?
The movement says INVAR on it and has a serial number 013970
The inside of the movement cover says 14k 13728
The inside back cover says 13728 14k and C.M.I. - as does the inside of the front cover.
I was just doing some clearing out and came across it, I inherited it from somewhere and would like to know a bit about it.

Looks very similar to mine that I inherited a year ago, has mark levi 116 pershore road Birmingham written on the face. I asked about it on here but didn't find much out.
Does look very similar. It is a nice watch, I am just not sure it is worth a lot. I think it dates from early 1900's. Probably worth around £150 but could be wrong, have seen an identical one on ebay for a grand but I think that is just dreamers money. I suppose the value of it depends on what someone is willing to pay. I had in mind to sell it to an enthusiast and put it towards something I would actually wear on a daily basis. Better than it sitting in a box in a dark cupboard.
Hi Bulldong, that's definitly worth more than £150. There's one with a more detailed case , Invar 14k on eBay in the US for $3500. Just the fact that it's 14k Gold gives it reasonable value.
It's a really nice watch and looks to be in lovely condition.
A little bit of research tells me:
Invar was a watch brand of Achille Hirsh of La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland.
They did win a gold medal at the Milan Exhibition in 1906.
CMI on the caseback stands for le Compagnie des Montres Invar (the Invar watch company).
PS. I'll give you £150 for iit

It is about where I got to with online research but I don't know where to sell it. Perhaps eBay?
It is in relatively good condition, it needs the face resetting because it comes off when you open the case. Apparently it is not a big job.
I think Invar is also a type of metal alloy that someone invented to make watch innards.
PS, at £150 it's not worth selling which was my point hehe

Mines only 9k so probably worth diddly. How do you get the back off to look at the movement?
Found out a little about marks levi, he was a jeweller so not sure if that means he made the watch or was just a retailer
To get the back off on mine there is a small finger nail sized lip to prize it off gently.Found out a little about marks levi, he was a jeweller so not sure if that means he made the watch or was just a retailer
