HELP ME oh watch geeks? (Present for my Dad)
Discussion
Hi all,
My Dad is a keen swimmer and it's his 60th coming up. I was all set to get him the Garmin Swim watch but have read some bad reviews regarding changing the battery after a year and the O rings to seal the battery in not being available.
So, I'm after as much of the following as possible:
1). He's always liked the idea of not having to set the time, so Wave Ceptor etc. seems good
2). Not having to change a battery would be nice, but they should last a while anyway right?
3). MUST have split timer and be a DIGITAL display so he can see it in the pool through goggles (he's a glasses wearer)
4). Around £100 as money is a wee bit tight.
So, any thoughts folks? Thanks in advance for the help!
Cheers,
James

Have a look at g-shock, the tough solar models would get around the battery issue.
Something like, http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Shock-GW-7900-1ER-Mens-Q...
This looks idea too, not a g-shock (so doesn't have the g-shock price premium) but made for running http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-Collection-Digital-Q...

Thanks!
I am rather taken with this one as it's not got quite the 'stupidly overbuilt' nature of the other G Shocks: http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Shock-GW-2310-1ER-Mens-Q...

Can't beat this for simplicity:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/GW-M5610-1ER-Ceptor-Contro...
Also available in rescue orange with a neg display. Atomic, solar, not overly huge and retro.

That's the one im wearing at the moment funnily enough, my issue with the 5610 for an older person is the buttons are quite difficult to press.http://www.amazon.co.uk/GW-M5610-1ER-Ceptor-Contro...

If your wanting split timing am I right in assuming you want to be able to press the buttons in the water? If so you need to be careful as most watches (not sure about g shocks but I know some of mine are full membrane buttons so suggests may be an issue) lose all their waterproof capability if a button is depressed.
