Watch identification - Tissot & Ingersoll
Discussion
First time in this forum so be gentle
We've been having a bit of a clear out and have found a couple of my great uncle's watches in an old drawer.
Just wondering if anyone would be able to give me a bit more info on how old they may be and how much (if anything) they would be worth.
The Tissot is obviously a Tissonic Electronic but beyond that I have no idea & the only thing I know about the Ingersoll is that it's mechanical.
Both watches are a bit scratched (the Tissot in particular) and the leather straps are in pretty shoddy condition.
I was thinking about sticking them up on ebay - better individually? Is it worth putting a reserve on them?
Any help much appreciated
I've tried to take clear photo's of the watches with any identifiers clearly visible...

Ingersoll, £30 ish.
The Tissot is more interesting. Here's another\http://electric-watches.co.uk/shop/....
This movement in a Tissot is rare, but even so, I'd say that the one above is, shall we say, "optimistically" priced. My guess would be £150 ish for yours - assuming it runs, based on the condition the price of mechanical sea stars and the price of Titus tuning forks. It is a guess, these are rare.
Have you had it going? The movement is made by Bulova. It's an Accutron, or tuning fork movement. It's a hybrid electrical / mechanical watch. The oscillator is actually a acoustic tuning fork running at 300Hz. Uniquely in the watch world, the movement train is powered by the mechanical vibration of the oscillator.
All very boring and geeky, but what it means is the watch has a pleasant humm and the second hand will glide around the dial in (what you will perceive to be) a silky smooth way. Utterly mesmerising to watch.
Must get myself a hummer one day.

If the scratches on the crystal are not too deep you can polish them out with Brasso. If they are deep you will need to use some very fine sandpaper first.
Have a go with the Brasso at least and you will probably find most of them come out after 10 minutes of rubbing. Just mind you dont polish the gold off the case!
Post up an "after" photo if you do.
