Any info gratefully received on these two watches from the experts on here. I've performed the usual Google search so know that;

A. Jovial is not an especially good watch but there are still a few 60s vintage ones about and running. This is my late Dad's and I think that he acquired it around 1962. I couldn't see any 25 jewel models like this but I assume it's a similar situation to the 21 jewel ones.

Any info on the quality of the movement? As it was Dad's it's not going anywhere far from my wrist. It keeps reasonable time - at least I assume that losing 2 minutes per day is reasonable.

B. Dad bought me the Mudu sometime in the 70s I think, although it might have been the 60s. Again I know that their journey into the UK was less than kosher, which doesn't surprise me knowing Dad, and some say the movement was good while others that it was the low end of the spectrum.

I've not managed to find a model similar to mine, nor mention of 25 jewels. It's not working at the moment so I need to find a decent repairman beer Bournemouth. Again, any information gratefully received.

Oh, and what is considered good timekeeping for an automatic watch?
TIA

I've got one as well! Not the same as yours... better! smile I heard that they were built by watch makers as 'foreigners' after work and a lot of them were made by very good men and women. They were imported very illegally to avoid tax usually on fishing boats but were still quite pricey for watches back them. I think they were about £12 which was a lot!

I had mine restored/repaired by an ordinary watch repairer even though it was still running well after 50 years and kept acceptable time. The service cost £50.

Neither are makes that I know much about, sorry. I could Google, but then, so can you.

Eddie Cain (ecain63 I think) has a shop in Bournemouth, he did have a watch guy, but I'm not sure that he is taking stuff at the moment.

I use a chap called Cephas Mckeough. He's in Southampton here. He's not expensive, the work is good and he'll advise you as to what can / should / is economical to do.

Yeah, I didn't want to bother Ed just now. I've found all I can from Google, so I think I need someone to check the movements.
