Iconic Watches
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Looking at a Hublot through the above and wondered if anyone has any recent reviews?
Also wondered if anyone has purchased a Hublot from them and how the warranty worked as appreciate you get wise key and reader, however when speaking to
Hublot in London, they just said its a risk from buying elsewhere and wouldn't go into any further detail.....
(Speaking with them again tomorrow so I shall follow this up)

Anything well designed shouldn't need a warranty. If they are advising you you might maybe look at spending your money on something else.
Eh?
OP - I've never used Iconic myself however they do come well recommended, and there'll be no difference with the warranty compared to a Hublot boutique/concession either.

Hmmn, as a professional design engineer with over 20 years experience, I can solemnly verify that the above posters statement above is warm doggy poop of the runniest kind. The poster has clearly never heard of MTBF, FIT rate or the bathtub curve.
Extended warranties are generally a rip off, but a free warranty on any item is a valuable commodity, especially on a second hand item.

I bet you airlines get a warranty from Boeing and Airbus.and I hope to God their aircrafts are well designed !!............ Hublot is another house under the LVMH stable ......im not a fan, my brother has one, and its just ok .....but what ever floats your boat michael gould said:

Not sure about Boeing, but Airbus is well designed, well parts of it anyway. I know this a s friend of mine designed engineered the wing attachments to the fuelselage. He did say "if they fall off, I'm outta here" I guess he did ok as he got headhunted (at the time) by Mercedes Mclaren to design F1 suspension bobbybee said:

Isn't F1 suspension specifically designed to fall off?mikeveal said:

Isn't F1 suspension specifically designed to fall off?I'd certainly be buying a Hublot from a reputable source, mainly through fear of the 'super rep' watches that are scarily close in terms of build quality, as well as the movement itself! In fact, that's enough to put me off a Hublot ... unless it's a UNICO model, but that's my own opinion.
I've never used Iconic Watches, but as CardShark said, they come well recommended. If it's new, it should come with a warranty. If it's second hand and comes with a warranty, that's great! If not, then it wouldn't be enough to put me off, especially if the price is right.

Many thanks for the above.
I have just ordered one from Iconic so time will tell...
Its a new watch so 2/3 week lead time, however after Hublot London was meant to call me back yesterday on lead time thought it best to try Iconic.
Michael,
The Hublot I have selected is not a Big Bang so not too blinging and in your face, however sure it will be fine.
Cheers all

Nothing is perfect, no design, no test, no assembly process. No packaging can protect against all knocks, shocks, temperatures. Etc.
A good designer and process engineer know this. The challenge is to design a product and process that gives an acceptable customer satisfaction, whilst keeping cost down.
Manufacturing engineers use statistcal process control to limit testing to a tiny sample of the parts built in the knowledge that ther will be a controlled number of parts shipped that would fail test.
What that means is that there will always be product shipped that has problems.
A high volume well set up product might hit 99.9999% working product delivered to customers, but that is really difficult. Most consumer stuff is closer to 99.9%.
And that's just DOAs, not early life failures.
So yeah, you need a warranty. Not an expensive extended warranty, those things make money by being at the bottom of the bathtub curve.
Saying you don't need a warranty because a product is well designed is just plain wrong.

No-one expects to have to rely on a warranty, but that's not really the point. Ultimately it doesn't really matter how well designed or built something is, crap happens and that's where the peace of mind warranty steps in.
ETA what Mike said!
Incidently, that's a pretty poor show buy Hublot if they were insinuating that by purchasing from anywhere other than them you were either a) not actually going to end up with a Hublot or b) the warranty would be invalid or ineffective. I'm guessing that there are a good few snide watches out there and caveat emptor and all that, but still...

I've had fantastic service from Iconic. Very helpful staff and they've always replied to me quickly when I've made enquiries (even outside office hours sometimes).
They're very friendly. I've heard nothing but good things about them. I luckily haven't needed their help with warranty work as yet but I'd trust them to handle it professionally and promptly.
