Hi all, my watch obsession continues. Now I am weighing up between the new Oris Aquis with the blue sunburst dial, or the new (ish) Omega Seamaster Pro with black dial, secondhand.

Which would you go for and why?

I like the Omega brand, history and reliability, plus the classic looks and general value.

I like the Oris for value for money, they are independent and this watch looks really smart, however not as prestigious and re-sale value will probably be less.

I can get the Oris new for about £900, I can get the Omega secondhand and mint for about £1500. They are very comparable timepieces apart from the price, however cost isn't an issue in this comparison to me.

Cheers all! Yes I know I should get the one I want ultimately, but I'm after a little discussion over the two smile.

Never handled the Oris but it looks nice.

I've got a ceramic Seamaster and it's genuinely lovely. Quality and accuracy and great and I love that it's quite subtle.

Tudor Black Bay and Pegalos are worth a look too.

Where can you get the Oris from at that price? As per my post of a couple of days ago, I'm after an Aquis Date (grey dial), and can't find any in the UK for less than £1,000.

I've decided to get the Oris as well as a Glycine, as I can't choose between them smile

The Oris is lovely but it's too chunky and angular for me. I don't like the high polish on the bracelet though.

Getting both seems the best compromise wink.

Don't know if these guys are any good, they seem ok: http://www.precisiontime.co.uk/oris-733-7653-4158-...

I found myself in Goldsmiths this lunchtime and tried both watches on. The Omega is definitely the one, the Oris is nice but it's just too big and overbearing (and I like bigger watches.) The shiny bracelet put me off a bit too, but it is really nice.

The Omega just oozes quality, charm and history as well as a universal, classless look in terms of it won't look out of place worn with shirt and trousers, or t shirt and jeans. I was quite smitten actually.

Just weighing up now whether to buy brand new or second hand. Heart vs head, man-maths vs reality smile.

Oris is a nice watch but to my mind looks better on the rubber strap.
