Birthday time again
Discussion
My birthday is coming up next month and we are off to Edinburgh to celebrate as we do most years. Possibly going to treat myself to a new watch. Presently i have a Rolex Deep Sea, Omega Planet Ocean, Breitling Avenger 2 and a Tudor Pelagos.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated, max budget probably around £5k

Hi!
I also have 3 out of the 4 you mentioned, residual value aside (because I never intend to sell it) I really love my Bremont MB2!
You`ll have change to spend on a selection of straps too.
I also have a 42mm Explorer 2 (black dial) which looks a million times better on than it does in a shop window!

Thanks for that - but i was actually after some recommendations for watches - not where to purchase?
And as said in original post im going to Edinburgh.
The point that I was (somewhat obtusely I'll admit) making is that its foolish to make a £5K purchase on the strength of a £100 travel ticket. And as said in original post im going to Edinburgh.

I don't know where you're starting out from, but it must be possible to get to Edinburgh from anywhere in the mainland UK for £100.
The point is, its foolish to spend that kind of money in a fixed location just because you happen to be in that location. Your notional £100 could easily take you anywhere else in the UK, where you could potentially either get better discount, a better selection, or much more watch for your money.
Perhaps £5K is throw-away spending to you. To me it isn't.
The point that I was making is that you're stipulating a location based on the fact that you happen to be there. If there's a great deal to be had - fine. But the monetary cost of your travel to that location is less than 2% of your budget, so on that basis "must buy in Edinburgh" is nuts. You asked for recommendations, I answered "consider buying elsewhere". It was a deliberately flippant comment on my part.

Panerai Luminor Marina 1950 44mm?
A diver, but reserved in appearance and works well on both a rubber or leather strap. 300M water resistance, 3 day power reserve, sapphire glass and display back. I'm pretty sure RRP is near to or less than £5K. It's certainly a bit different in comparison to your other pieces ...

I'd look seriously at Bremonts. They seem to be in the ascendancy at present regarding used prices so should hold their value.
Beautifully made too.
Some of the Ltd Eds are a bit spurious, they`ve had a few good ones such as the P51 and the EP120 but the more recent ones.......... not at all sure about them!Beautifully made too.
