My lovely daughter thought it would be a good idea to play with my IWC Aquatimer and dropped it on a tiled floor, it's damaged the case (photos below) and is now gaining approx 5 seconds per minute! Aside from sending it back to IWC any ideas what could be wrong with it?

It's really frustrating as I was considering swapping it for something else in the very near future as I just don't wear it!

The gain is likely to be simple and easy - most likely cause is the hairspring caught up on its stud (effectively shortens the spring by a full coil and causes BIG gains).

Assuming that's what's happened, another one for the RBL jar if you'd like it sorted.

The case damage is a bit more serious - doubt there's any way to disappear that completely without a re-case but could probably be made less obvious.

That would be fantastic if possible, if you can let me know details.

I can't see the value in a re-case as I doubt I'd get it back come re-sale time!

Agreed about the re-case - not least because it'd have to go back to them for that and it's guaranteed that they'll insist on a full service given the drop.

You have mail btw smile

They won't repair it under warranty because it has been subject to an impact. I know this from annoying experience.

Variomatic will get my next repair job (if he wants it).

Rocco from watchworks could possibly laser weld and lap that case.... IF you can get a reply from him (I have been unsuccessful so far).

Another vote for Rocco at Caseworks, he did a case restoration on a vintage Omega for me. The standard of work is superb. I found that the best contact was the phone, email is patchy.
