Hi, first post here so go easy.

I'm by no means a watch aficionado, though I do have some on a 'wish list' that I'd like to treat myself to some day.

Anyway I fancy a watch for daily wear (currently don't wear anything).

I'd estimate around £100 budget, but for a quick search of WatchShop I put the range £60-£120 just to get a better idea.

I'd like a black or dark brown leather strap (not a fan of metal) with a simple face.

I know this may be frowned upon but one of my favourite watches is the TAG Carrera, so something not too different in style. Though I also Like B&R so pretty open minded!

As you can imagine, in this budget I won't be getting anything premium, but there are quite a variety of brands and I'm not really sure what's good, what's bad, etc.

Here a couple of quick examples of ones I like that came up in the results. Any comments, suggestions etc more than welcome.

Nixon 'The Time Teller', £120:

Rodania Atlanta, £119:

Storm, £99:

At this price point, Seiko is your friend.

I bought my OH a Storm watch some time ago but it was very poor quality.

I've just bought one of these, after the wife going on about them for ages and that she wanted one, so bought her one for christmas in another colour and bought this black and tan one for myself. looks a nice watch.

There is a gimmick though, you can only buy online, from the fifth of every month and once they've sold out you have to wait until the next month. They also ship them from Australia and the watch cost about 60 quid. Cant comment on the quality as it with a family member in Britain. But they are a small family run company operating out of Melbourne and ship world wide. The customer service seems very good as I emailed them to ask a few questions and they respond quite soon and are quite helpful.

Orient Mako (or any of the other automatic range). All the watch you ever need for not a lot of dosh! I much prefer the finish and quality of my Orient to my Seiko watches...

Check out Creation Watches.

I would have said Seiko 5.

Respectfully £100 is pretty much fashion watch money so just focus on getting something you like - but in that price range I'd suggest Seiko are one of the best in terms of quality,

Citizens have always been good for me:

Should be able to get an ecodrive (no battery required) for that kind of money.

I have one of the Nixon Time Tellers and I will not be buying another watch from them. Basically, I've had 3 Nixons and the first was really good, lasted well and took a lot of abuse. The second two have each only lasted about 6 months each and Nixon customer service were useless.

My wife bought me a Seiko, which is much better. I also have a Quiksilver one that has been good and a cheap Neff as a day to day watch.

There have been a lot of Citizen Eco Drive watches on Amazon deals over the last few weeks for about £100 and Samuels have been advertising one on TV for £99.99 over the last couple of days.
