Hi,

Just wondering the general opinion on Luminox watches? I'm sure I read some bad things about them on here, one guy having his watch fall apart in a matter of months! Was he just unlucky?

The reason I ask is cos I'm looking for a watch that I can wear everyday [so has to be pretty tough], that would look equally good if I was on a SAS mission or wearing a suit at a Wedding!! I do like this - https://www.luminox.com/watch-collection/land/reco... - though I haven't seen it for sale in he UK as yet.

I'd be open for other suggestions. Budget, about £500, colour I'm thinking black. I do like G-Shock [already have one so would happily buy one again] but I think they struggle with the suit thing?!

Cheers smile

How about a Traser? Really like mine.

Yep, second vote for the Traser brand. A while ago my SKX007 broke (and was repaired to "as new" condition by Variomatic - Thanks Joe) and as a replacement I got an Outdoor Pioneer : http://www.traser.com/en-gb/outdoor-pioneer,d-118.... I've been very happy with it, it's very accurate, lightweight, robust and the silicon strap is very comfy indeed. I think also they give 15% off if you work in the military / emergency services, however they weren't strict in asking for proof, Mrs T just told them she was a Nurse and they added the discount without any issues or questions.

Good watches IMO, the only issue I had was that the silicon strap was a bit too big for my girly wrists so I needed to add another hole.

I've heard Luminox aren't that great compared to Traser.

I don't have much to compare it with but both of my Trasers have been used by serving soldiers in the Middle East (not me, I'm too cowardly silly).

... and the Luminox doesn't?! wink It's certainly a jeans and t-shirt watch, but I think it would look massively out of place when worn in conjunction with a suit. Obviously, this is my opinion. In all honesty, most people wouldn't notice. I mean, they'll be looking at the bride ... and hardly anyone eyes up other people's watches! hehe

However you mention 'black' and £500 - Perhaps an automatic movement too? I'd suggest something from Steinhart. The Ocean 44 DLC is perfect!

I'm unsure of which price you need to pay, but even with VAT, it's under budget. smile

There is also a stainless version too, as well as Pepsi/Coke GMT variants.

Luminox are garbage. Avoid. Search this forum for the feedback. I had one and it was trash.

If Traser are an option, then also try Marathon. Built like a tank, my 4yr old CSAR has been excellent, would highly recommend them to anyone.

I am really liking my new nite mx10

A little bit of radioactivity on ones wrist never did anyone any harm.

I looked at Traser before opting for Nite as a range I really liked.

Try anything by Hamilton, was worn by the US army during WW2 as standard issue (so I understand) and also looks good under a suit :-)

I don't know about that mate, I think any of these suggestions may work with a suit (well, better than my current white g-shock anyway)...though the suit thing isn't the most important. I like your option too buddy, I'll take a look.
