This morning I received back two watches that have been with Variomatic.
Both of them are quartz TAG Heuers.

I just want to thank him for very quick and prompt service (they both arrived with him yesterday morning) and a very good price (not to mention his thorough service answering all my emails and letting me know EVERYTHING that was going on.

I'd be happy to recommend his work!

I will 2nd that, great service with regular updates. Fortis B42 auto winding issue has been fixed and was broken due to a Rivet coming loose, part replaced and will back later this week. A big relief to know that it wont cost me £300 to fix but £50.

it appears that i may be calling Joe again on Monday.

The winding issue is fixed, but yesterday i thought id give the Chrono a try and it starts and then stops at 43 seconds and stalls the watch. Very weird. So i stopped the chrono reset to zero and the watch starts working again.

Sorry to hear that, Rat - must admit I didn't look much further than the winding issue and a quick check over the functions because all the rest appeared in good order frown

I'm away on Monday for a hospital appointment for my wife but give me a call on Tues or just drop it back in the post and I'll take a closer look - likely to be very minor given the overall condition of it smile

Ok, ill give you a call.

But on further tests, it first stopped at ?m - 43secs, then 0m - 43 secs, then 4 - 43secs, now it is going strong at 19mins.

So I reckon that there is some foreign object in the movement that has caused a jam at that certain point on the second hand? Dust etc.

To be honest, if it working for now I will see how it goes, as ultimately I wont really use the chrono. But it is nice to have a fully working watch!

It's possible a fragment from the old driver wheel's rivet ended up loose in there - it looked complete when I removed it but it only takes a tiny piece to lodge in the gap between 2 teeth to cause a stoppage.

If you're happy to see how it goes for now then no probs but don't feel you can't get in touch if it does play up in the future - the job has a year guarantee, so that's plenty of time for it to reoccur if it's going to wink
