I am being helplessly drawn to a solid gold Submariner, the 116618LN. I can't help but think it's a bit much and an utterly stupid idea. A bit vulgar and a bit `in your face` but in spite of all the negatives generally associated with gold Subs I still for some reason feel I need to have one and I'm not the ostentatious type.

I had a stainless steel Sub and liked it and feel the white gold version makes no sense. It's the yellow bit that does it and I don't even like jewellery. I have never worn rings, chains, bracelets or any of that stuff as it's just not me but the watch, the watch it's like the Holy Grail.

Is it a good idea and has anyone been here before?

Jimmy Savile wore a gold Rolex, albeit not a Sub. Just saying.

I've found myself strangely drawn to these too.
There's quite a lot of rose & yellow gold in the glossy adverts at the moment.

Maybe the manufacturers think everyone who wants a stainless divers watch now has one.
Best convince us we want gold.

Could be the right time to pickup a 16618.

It will be ridiculously heavy, it will scratch easily and you will probably get mugged.

Sickening, watched that video yesterday. Probably no different to some tts trying to pull you off the bike at traffic lights. Hanging them isn't good enough! shoot

Hopefully will get caught in no time, CCTV helps.

I keep looking at bi-metal subs which I do love, but I don't think I could go for a full good one.

If I was spending that much I think I'd go for a sky dweller instead, rose if I fancied a bit of bling

Rose gold isn't for me. That video is quite grim.

The $hit that happens in cities bothers me. Maybe my living out in the sticks upbringing.

So did J.R. Ewing.

Being like Red Adair is pretty positive though and probably won't help with the purpose of this thread:
