Made a offer on this watch and it's been accepted.
Looks all genuine to me and I think it's good value.
If the link works can some of you take a look please.

Looks lovely, and the guy has spent time taking close-up, multi-angle pics which would give me some confidence. You could put a post on TZ too...

I would insist on the receipt from "his watchmaker" for the service.

Rolex will only supply parts to accredited service agents, so if he's not accredited then I would be suspicious. The "service" might have been an ultrasonic bath without stripping the movement and a quick spray with WD40.

No receipt - didn't happen. If so, walk away.

His prices are too high - £8k for a shabby 5513 without box and papers is a joke.

Honestly wouldn't worry too much about AD servicing on one of these. Despite popular rumours they're very unlikely to explode if looked at by someone who's chosen not to invest the 5 digit sums in "approved" duplicate tooling which are the main requirement for being an approved service agent smile

Parts are also fairly easily available fot these because the pre-date Rolex' restrictive practices so plenty of spares escaped into the wild. Not that parts are often needed in any case - quality movements tend not to wear in the first place!

Obviously hard to be definitive from a single photo of a cased up movement but, from what can be seen, it all looks good.

It's clean and tidy, with no serious tool marks on the plating, badky chewed screws, or obvious rust marks (even cleaned off rust tends to leave pitting).

The balance amplitude would seem to be good from the amount of blur on the timing screws and the nicely open coils on the hairspring.

The regulator is well centred, as it should be, rather than shoved half-way over in either direction in an attempt to get a bag of nails to keep some sort of average time.

Finally, don't worry too much about receipt (or not) for the service. I send trafe work out 20 or 30 watches at a time to some of my customers, and they're invoiced all together at the end of the month. If they wanted individual receipts they'd be paying extra because someone has to pay for the admin time. I'm certainly not alone in that smile

Id agree about the receipt, because 'recently serviced' is seldom ever true, and hardly (if) ever involves an actual watchmaker.

Had a call from the watch company today.
The watch comes with a receipt for the service.
Also a insurance valuation report.
The seller will call at my premises to sell the watch if I'm not happy with it no sale.
I also get a warranty with it.
I'm happy with this.

Agree with Vario and GC8. This is ebay, believe nothing the seller or seller's paperwork says. You have to go on what you can see.

A clean movmement and superb original dial, no water marks or rust on the steel bits. Just the right amount of marking to the screw heads to tell you that it has been serviced at some time in it's life. The regulator isn't jammed over against the stops. The case looks like it has been polished, but not excessively. Bridges and ebauche are all the same colour, so it's not a frankenwatch.

Looks like a very clean, original watch.

Buying from ebay you should always assume that a watch will need a service regardless of what the seller says. Factor it into the cost of the purchase. You'd be nuts to send this for a Rolex approved service though, all it should need is a clean and re-oil. If it doesn't need a service then that's a bonus.

I've bought watches that the seller has said have been serviced that clearly never have, I've also had over zealous servicing where the balance spring was soaked in oil and was sticking together. Don't believe your seller, budget for a service and you might be pleasantly surprised but you won't be disappointed.
