I don't really post on PH any more but I wanted to pop in and say thanks to Eddie/ecain63 for another job well done. Of course, many of you will already be very familiar with his work, not least from threads like this, but I wanted to add my own testimonial.

I wanted an engagement ring and the obvious route was to buy something off-the-shelf from a high street chain. However I got to know of Eddie through PH and I thought that, if feasible, it'd be far nicer to have something a little more bespoke with a bit more involvement in the process. The trouble with that in general is it's very difficult to know whether any given independent is really a safe bet, so having a source of recommendations gave me the confidence to do that.

After a bit of email back & forth about how the whole process might work some time ago, I decided to proceed with this at the start of this year. I did have a high street design in mind to run with, something like this:

Over the course of some more emails (about 30 in total by the end of it all!) we refined what I was looking for a bit more, defined a budget, and eventually a set of good/bad example designs. Eddie then picked me out a trio of sapphires, and I visited him in Bournemouth to select one. We then got the design confirmed and the build began.

I also asked Eddie to take some pictures as the build went along, and of course he obliged, which is great because it adds a little more to the story for us. I haven't included them all but here's a few:

(a platinum bar, the start of it all)

(a shoulder)

You can judge for yourself, but as the customer, what I feel we came out with at the end was special, something that I had a hand in - actually commissioned rather than merely picked - which is designed and built to last, and which is more elaborate and detailed than what I'd originally have gone for. I'm also a very big fan of the style of it.

So anyway, that's all fine & good, but it doesn't ultimately matter what I think, does it?

Needless to say, my fiancee is delighted - I don't think she could be more happy with it as a design. Me too!

So, thank you again to Eddie. He's a great chap, prompt communication, always gave me the time and made me feel welcome, even back when I was still far from the point of being able to get moving on this. We both really appreciate his service & craftsmanship, so if you're in the market for jewellery, drop him a line - you won't regret it smile

Happy Easter all smile

Hi Rob,

Really pleased you both like it. As you say, it's a special thing to be able to pop down and choose your own stone and then spec the ring design. It's also a privilege for me to be able to fulfill the dream for you.

Best wishes to you and your fiance, and good luck with the wedding prep in the coming months.

Eddie
