Buying a watch in Hong Kong
Discussion
Has anybody here purchased a Rolex in Hong Kong before? I'm looking at making a purchase soon for a stainless or stainless and gold DJ/DJII on a jubilee bracelet and wondering if the prices really are that much better than the UK.
I know in HK there is no tax to pay, and I also know there is the option for grey imports, but where can they be found and would the warranty still be valid.
During this discussion flight costs are not really a factor as I live in Asia already and can fly back to the UK via HK.
Like this but gold and stainless.

i found that once id added on the foreign exchange percentage on the debit card it was cheaper to buy from iconic in the uk.
Interesting point to consider.I've been offered so a far 116234 in stainless jubilee for 4100gbp and a stainless daytona with white face for 7900gbp.
I went watch hunting when I was in HK and also in Singapore as I was spending a few days in each city a couple of years ago. I found that in both places there were no real savings to be had from legitimate retailers so I didn't bother. Unless I was going to save a couple of thousand, I think I would much prefer to have the comfort of knowing that my dealer was within close reach should I have any trouble with it in the future.

Well you do have the international warranty is there. AD will offer me 10% off. Location is fine for me as I live in the Philippines so it's a relatively short hop.I just want to know more about grey dealers.
I live in HK. I'll have a look next week. You want a black face, 116234, with diamond batons and a bimetal Jubilee bracelet?
I bought a GMT 16700 ~ 20 years ago from an AD. The manager was a family friend from my wifes side. He said, in general, the maximum discount they were allowed was 12% on the sports models and 17% on the others, but that was 20 years ago. Daytonas were popular in HK at the time and there was no discount on these.
Not sure what the discount is now, but no one pays retail.

That would be excellent yes please. Price in steel and bimetal, paying cash.I bought a GMT 16700 ~ 20 years ago from an AD. The manager was a family friend from my wifes side. Also interested in what price a stainless daytona white face.
Thanks in advance.
The all steel (as pictured in your first post) 116234 is 72700 HK dollars.
The bimetal is 92200HK Dollars. A discount of 5% can be taken off these prices (=69025 and 87590 respectively). I only spent 3 minutes in the shop and didn't haggle, so if you flashed the cash you should be able to get a little more off.
The white Daytona is ~ 90000 HK dollars (no stock at the moment) - no discount.
Incidentaly, the non-sports Rolex, gold , bimetal and diamond watches seem to lose more money, so have you considered second hand.
