Hi all,

I'd like to get a 16600 Sea Dweller soon, but am a bit confused with the different ones out there.

There seem to be a lot for sale between the mid 90s and 00s with different letter markings. My gut feel would be to go for the newest possible with box and papers, but is there any merit in going for one of the older models? We're there any significant changes on the 16600 during its life?

Thanks,
Nick

There were a few changes to the lugs and the case I believe. I bagged a 2006 16600 last year, this has the solid lugs and is one of the more desirable versions IMO. The lugs became solid in 2005 then the production ended in 2008 of the 16600 so the solid lugs are rarer.

Image for reference:

Personally I'd try and get a late 2000s model, mine cost me £4100 with box and papers and by the looks of it they are slowly increasing in price.

Ah fantastic- thank you! I do prefer the look of the solid lugs, so that is some great advice. I think they're close to £4,500 these days with box and papers, so they're certainly creeping up.

There's a few decent models on Chrono24 currently I purchased through a trusted partner on there and it was quick and painless. Can't recommend the watch enough, great piece and to me just feels better engineered than a sub. Love mine!

I bought a sub non date 16 years ago in Zermatt whilst on holiday, I had the choice of both the non date , the date and a sea dweller at the time.

I love my sub , but still have a slight regret about not getting the sea dweller .

Bought my son his SD for his 21st over ten years ago , £2440 less 10% discount from a Rolex dealer in the NE , how times have changed ?
