In a meeting earlier in the week I noticed one of the participants had an interesting looking piece on his wrist. I'm not that au fait with Rolex but it looked like a Submariner to me. The brand looked like it was two letters; something like Gc or Ge. I had already had enough of trying to argue via a translator so didn't take the opportunity to ask him what it was.

Just wandered if the collective on here would have any ideas from my embarrassingly poor description?

There are a number of budget manufacturers producing Sub homage watches, many of them containing an Automatic movement.

Steinhart, as mentioned above.
Bagelsport
Sandoz
Alpha
Reginald
Sewor
Zieger

If you go on eBay all of the above will be there. Some are ok as a Submariner style watch, others look crap!

I bought a Zieger 'Sub' as a work beater, and partly for a joke because it was £23 brand new. it's actually ok for a cheap watch, doesn't look bad, water proof, automatic etc.

Sure it wasn't "CW"? The blatant plagiarists homagers to end all homagers?

Those are gopping!

I have a Chr. Ward on my wrist now - and the branding on both the C30 image above, and my C60, are more than the "two letters" OP writes about. Same story with Steinhart (whose pieces I'm also fond of).

If the criminal about whom OP writes has indeed wasted their money on any abomination linked there, then their employ at whichever company should be under immediate review. Jus' sayin'
