I really like the look of the new 2016 Rolex Air King and would like to see one in the flesh, so to speak.
However, all the AD's that I've emailed haven't got one in or say there is quite a waiting list. Is this the case or is it simply Rolex haven't ramped up manufacturing yet?
I know there was quite some controversy surrounding face fonts etc, but I would still like to see one to decide if i'm going to purchase one or not.
I did notice Blowers have one at a grand over list.
Any body seen one in an Authorised Dealers in the Teesside/North Yorkshire area?

Cheers

Not much help as I'm down in Essex but I've been offered 3 so far since early August.

When I saw it at Basel world I really liked it, I have a 2001 Air king and always hoped they would reinstate the name and adding colour to the dial was a really good touch. I put myself down on 4 waiting lists and got a few calls updating me and then my local AD called me to tell me they had one in, I couldn't get there for a week or so and in-between that time I got a call from Mappin & webb saying they had a GMT II BLNR in stock and my name was next on the list so I rushed down and bought that without a moments hesitation.

When I did get round to seeing the new Air king I was a little underwhelmed (That might have been because of the GMT purchase the very week before though), It just felt abit too heavy for the small case size and I couldn't get on with it so turned it down. Such a shame as I hoped I would love it! I'm used to Breitling's too so usually weight isn't an issue.

Since then I've had another two calls offering me them, I didn't realise they are 1k above list at dealers though - wish I'd brought it now just to flip it.

Rant mode engaged:
40mm! Why is an Air King bigger than 36mm? Rolex have smaller Day Dates.
Surprised, as I always thought of the Air King as being a size smaller than the Oyster Perpetual.

Managed to find one, Goldsmiths in Middlesbrough phoned and said they had just got one in.
The missus went down and bought it, Unfortunately i wont be home for another 3 weeks so will have to wait to see it in the flesh.
I know what you mean about the GMT 11 BLNR, beautiful watch, i am fortunate to have one also.
Cheers fellas.

As a point of principle I refuse to join waiting lists or pay a premium over list price for anything. I'm patient enough to let the speculators corner the market and make their profit until supply catches up with the inevitable initial "must have" demand. I may revisit the situation next year.

At the end of the day it's just a watch you don't really need.
