Rolex Price increase
Discussion
An AD yesterday was openly discussing the price rises with me yesterday. 10% give or take across the range on 1 Nov apparently . Given the price disparity when converted to dollars and euros he said it was unavoidable. On a related note, Apple I believe have hiked prices of their Macs because of the weakening pound.
Not sure about Longines but I really can't see any reason to delay. Prices certainly aren't going to go down...
The price rise chatter (plus inflated prices on grey dealer websites) was enough to convince me there is nothing to be gained in delaying a purchase.

They'll be queuing out the doors tomorrow then,
To be fair anyone in the market for a new Rolex would be foolish not to buy this weekend , that's assuming they're aware of the imminent price rise.I bought a new Yachtmaster last week bearing the increase in mind , and I was assuming a 6% uplift.

I have just had a conversation with the Rolex dealer I have a 10% deposit with for a blue face yachtmaster. They have told me that as I paid the deposit on Thursday, before they were notified of the price increase on Friday, that they are allowed to hold the price for seven days to allow me to make arrangements to pick up the watch.
I have been told on several occasions of an imminent price increase from Rolex dealers in the past as a sales tactic but on this occasion it looks like it is true.

Taking a very cynical view, what odds that suddenly there's more SS stock in the windows of various ADs after the weekend.....
Canny increase in margin for " forgetting " to put a few watches out on display.....The logic being as new ones are in such short supply they'll put up prices come Monday so buy their stock NOW!

There appears to be no shortage of people waving wallets around....
Bought my wife a new SS piece yesterday from The Watch Gallery in Covent Garden as they got the one she wanted for her. They gave me the 10% price rise story, but I mentioned that we'd been hearing this for nearly a year!
Anyway, they were very nice to deal with.
Worth noting, they have a Blue faced YM in right now...

Had a Google and it seems everything has gone up 10%.

And Rolex (or the AD) are still losing margin at those price increases. For example the Swiss RRP of the new Daytona is CHF 11,800. Accounting for different VAT rates (8% in Switzerland) and the current exchange rate, the comparable U.K. Price would be £10,900, whereas the new price is £9,100.
