I really like the look of the Breitling Avenger Hurricane chronograph but do these hold value?

Would I be better off putting my money elsewhere if I wanted to get something that would not drop like a stone value wise?

Hi

It definitely won't hold it's money!

It's also a wristclock, if you REALLY want one you should contact Andrew Michaels in Newark, his prices normally put a different perspective on things!

You mean it's huge? Thanks for the input. I'm not a watch person at all, but with cash earning nothing thought a nice watch might be a good place to store some value.

It's MASSIVE!

A lot of people on here probably don't much like the idea of a watch that is bigger than 39-42mm, some love bigger but most don't really

We are only talking about millimetres but for example, the jump from 42mm to 45mm is to a lot of people just too much, 48mm seen as a bit bonkers but the watch you are looking at is 50mm and if you want to sell it it will be like trying to sell a Hummer H1

Some think the black edition Breitlings are now overdone, the first was the Acenger Skyland which was an exciting antithesis to the shiny, blingy Breilings but now there have been way too many black models to make them "special"

The other thing that isn't everyone ltaste is the 24hr dial, infact 1 dealer I spoke to said that he found them very hard to sell (think of that if you want to sell)

Lastly, if you want decent money for it you will have to ensure that it has NO marks, dings or scratches on that black coating and making sure it stays unmarked will ruin the enjoyment of wearing it!

See this watch (basically a slightly smaller version of what you are looking at but still massive)

Only 500 made, they were £5,700, about 18 months later I was offered £2,600 by the people selling this one (declined) but that should give you some idea, I sold mine for £4,600 SOR minus commission

Others will be along to tell you much more about watches as investments

I agree about Breitling losing money buy a new one and its worth half the next day
Best thing is to buy second hand
But about people not wanting over 42mm I'd disagree all watch manufactures are going
Big these day because thats what people want sales show that
Most of my watches go from 40-48mm my girl friends 42/44mm
I have a Tuna which is 48 but looks smaller than my 43,5 DSSD
