Christies NYC auction of Dec 6 recorded a vintage Heuer 'Skipper' sold for $125,000.00......and 10 other Heuer's fetched good prices... very good investments, especially now that Tag Heuer have finally recognised that they have a heritage they have not tapped onto...

Crazy money, hopefully the appreciation for vintage chronographs will grow to include other equally interesting marques.

These have a few years ripening yet I think -

But this'd be interesting to put on the market - a normal Heuer Bund went recently for $40k+ (anomaly/mistake I'm sure) so who knows...

Agreed, it is in superb condition with 5 link rice grains bracelet, but the rotating bezel has some scratches, have been looking for a new, old stock original for some time, plenty of fakes, but no genuine ones so far....

This thread has sent me looking into Heuer originals...

Thoughts on the Pasadena?

Probably from around 1982, PVD case, looks nice, but may need another decade before an appreciable rise in value, also made without the name Pasadena on the dial, but have no idea why.. does anyone know ?

The Pasadena with 7750 (750.501) was made between 77 and 82 (when they changed to Lemania movements after the change in ownership) iirc. The other model to feature the 7750 was the Montreal (750.503), generally the Pasadena was a black finish (although there was a rare steel version, but all feature the concave barrel case) and the Montreal was Steel, (rare ones with a blue dial or starburst brushed finish and most were the convex barrel case).
There were lots of small variations, normal through this transitional period.

No idea where the names came from originally!

In terms of collecting the Pasadena and Montreal didn't do much for me personally - I'd choose the later L5100 powered ones but obviously have a bias! Certainly good watches, the 7750 (later 'Cal 16'!) is a solid workhorse movement albeit a bit ubiquitous. Good watches though, but I don't think there's much that makes them stand out as having great investment potential - but what do I know!?

I have a steel no name Pasadena (750.503-1)

Pasadenas were the most expensive watches in the 1982 catalogue (that includes Monacos).

I also have a blue Montreal (750.503).

I'll take some photos of them.

Also have a blue faced Heuer Daytona.

For those of you who are interested in the vintage Heuer's, here is some info about the watches and also Jack Heuer:

http://calibre11.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-conten... - a remarkable man.

Heuer vintage experts give an in depth view of Autavia's from 1962 to 1969 - Crosthwaite, Gavin & Stein in the OnTheDash blog of March 31st 2016.

Also, Heuer Autavia Chronographs 1962-1985 in the Blurb Books site.

And, Heuer Chronographs by Arno Michael Haslinger published by Callwey books in Munich - www.callwey.de is a substantial book that is worth reading or acquiring.

Happy reading,,,

I've been looking at Bunds for the last couple of years...perhaps I should get one sooner rather than later.

They've been creeping up and becoming more scarce. Lovely watches; good size and comfortable to wear. Happy I picked mine up when I did.
